Business matching at BOI Fair 2011 exceeds target
More than 1,400 Thai-Foreign enterprises meetings hit Bt4 billion spare parts deals
The Board of Investment (BOI) has unveiled that for 6 days of the event there were more than 1,466 business matching meetings between major Thai and foreign business operators, which saw 4.054 billion Baht in business value, or 3 billion Baht higher than its initial target for 2011.
Dr. Achaka Sriboonreung, secretary-general of BOI, said the business matching activity at Business Matching Zone of BOI Fair 2011 held at Challenger Hall drew a lot of attention from Thai and foreign investors. For the six days of BOI Fair 2011, BOI attracted more than 1,466 business matching sessions to record approximately 4.054 billion Baht in connected trade value, or 3 billion Baht higher than expected.
Buyers in Thailand seeking local suppliers were leading companies. For example, Toyota looked for automotive spare parts suppliers. Nissan wanted spare parts suppliers for its eco car manufacturing. Robert Bosch wanted to meet automotive spare parts manufacturers. Siam Kubota wanted to find spare parts to produce tractors for agriculture. Thai Summit Auto Part wanted metal and automotive spare parts manufacturers. Delta Electronics were interested in electronics parts. Electrolux wanted electrical parts for home electrical appliances. Primus wanted metal spare parts manufacturers. Chint Solar needed co-investors for its solar cell production.
Foreign buyers from across the glove at BOI Fair 2011 included buyers from China, who were machinery manufacturers interested in Thai machinery manufacturers. Buyers from Japan were those machinery manufacturers for medical equipment and medicine. They looked for spare parts and Thai chemicals. Buyers from Korea were those machinery manufacturers wanting to find Thai machinery counterparts. From Taiwan, investors were those producers for natural rubber parts. They looked for molds manufacturers in the rubber products industry.
In addition, buyers from Malaysia were those large-scale palm oil exporters and producers. They looked for machinery manufactures capable of handling BIO MASS. Buyers from France were those in industrial wastewater treatment industry and aircraft parts industry, looking for co-investors and spare parts manufacturers in Thailand. Buyers from Uganda were from major poultry farming industry, looking for equipment and machinery manufacturers for chicken farms. Buyers from Bangladesh operated service industry and agriculture industry wanted spa business operators and operators for processing of agricultural produce.
